@MG: Makes sense that it was a steel plate and 8#s for singles. Rob's advice for AL plate is solid. Bring all the weight you have, and your weight belt.

@MM: I'll bring a tail weight and a v-weight. Yep, distribution will be a big part of the class.

Hey Don, do you have any spare tail weights that I could try out during the class?

Got a decent idea of my weighting needs but trying to figure out good distribution.

Hi Don,

I own two plates, a steel and aluminum, both Halcyon. I just got the Aluminum per Rob's advice during my try doubles week at the GUE event.

I brought my steel plate and dove his doubles, PST 100's. I was geared up in all my gear, Drysuit with full undergarments, HID light, and no weight belt.

Rob made me bring my 8 lb weight and we left it next to the pool edge, just in case I needed it.

During the dive I did pretty good, held trim and bouyancy. He made me move around and noticed when I would break trim I would tilt forward head heavy; I would struggle to get back in trim.

He said, if I had a aluminum plate we could work with my weigh belt more to balance me out, less fighting the break of trim would equal a funner dive.

So, AWS gave me a nice deal on an Aluminum plate.

So back to your original question; with my singles setup I dive my Steel plate, 8 lbs of lead weight on my belt, 3 lbs of CAN light and my Apeks reg and Worthington 100 HP.

With my doubles, it just an Aluminum plate and all the gear I own that you saw me dive during Essentials, just add another apeks xtx200 reg; total weight 7.5 lbs.

Thanks,

MG

Bring everything on Saturday. More flexibility in options the merrier.

You only use 8#s in addition to an AL plate for single rig?

Hey Don,

Any idea how much lead I should bring on Saturday? I normally dive 8 lb weight belt on my single rig.

I have the Aluminum Halcyon plate, HID 21 watt at 3 lbs, Apeks regs at 7.5 lbs and my double 100 HP Worthington with Thermo Manifold plus Highland bands.

Thanks...

MG
