Event Description

Essentials is designed to cultivate the essential techniques required by all sound diving practices, irrespective of level or environment. Essentials of Recreational Diving acts as a bridge between conventional training and UTD’s more demanding curriculum.

The course focuses on precise buoyancy control, dive planning, decompression strategies, safety, and environmental awareness.

The class is geared both toward the newly certified as well as the experienced recreational diver. Photographers and videographers will especially appreciate the detailed training in propulsion & precision buoyancy control that assists them getting that perfect shot.

Comment by Don Chennavasin on October 2, 2009 at 9:55pm: Pool: Pool fees come with AL80s w/ yoke. We'll be using those tanks instead of your steel tanks. Otherwise you'd be significantly overweighted, and that'll just make things harder than they need to be.

Oh and 80 degrees is what Roatan was. You mind if I close my eyes and dream I was there while we do the kicks?

I'll probably bring the 3/2 that didn't get much use while I was there ;)

Comment by Don Chennavasin on October 1, 2009 at 10:29pm: Kathy: WebEx won't allow more time in the water, it'll just allow us to end earlier in the evenings. We're just moving the lectures earlier during the week, as opposed to having it during the weekend.

Mike: Pool is 80 degrees. Everyone uses a wetsuit for more than 1 hour in the water. Since we're going to hover a lot, I'd wear some protection to be comfortable in the water.
