I'm converting my brother's reg to a long hose configuration and have found varying advice on the hose length of the necklaced reg.  Some say 22" some say 24". The UTD equipment config section recommends 24, but it is shown with a set of doubles. For a single tank config, is 22 generally long enough?

Thanks,
brian

What is weird is that I was looking for a 24" hose and no one had any in stock. But I found a bunch of 23" hoses.

Hose length typically depends on two things (1) singles vs double and (2) regulator.

I find that 22" hose works well for singles and Mk20/25 1st doubles in doubles. 24" hoses are used for diaphragm regulators (Apeks, Zeagles, Mk16).

I'm with Rainer, the best is to go to the LDS and try a few sizes out.

Also, when trying the hoses out, lean back with head back as if you're diving. If you're standing up, the back-up hose may feel short, especially on a single tank. Here's a picture
of the hose pulling to the right, although it's the correct length.
This is a good point that wasn't mentioned before. You want to be able to look left.

Same as when tucking away the long hose. Look left at the final step to allow for full head movement.

My primary concern was that I thought it might be nice to look to my left occasionally during a dive without the regulator being pulled from my mouth because I felt restricted to use a 22" hose.
