I do not believe that the age requirements can be waived for the more advanced courses that you mention. We of course would look forward to working with you when you have crossed that magical line...

Just out of curiosity, why is the age limit 18 for Essentials of Tech and Rec2?? (as examples) Those are nitrox based courses, no hard or virtual overheads, no helium etc. Not that what everyone else does is right, but looking at some other agencies, their age limits for recreational enriched air are typically less than 18yrs. Is this a critical skills waiver issue? Just curious.

Open Water, Rec 1, and Essentials of Rec have a minimum age requirement of 16. When we move to Rec 2, the minimum age is 18, as this is a critical skills class...students experience surprise simulated failures and must think through the solutions to the problems as presented.

We set it up so critical skills and Tech diving = 18 year-old minimum. We don't allow a parent to waive this as the parent is not there to do the thinking.

In the specific case of 17-year-old Liam, he is welcome to take Essentials of Rec which, except for the deco bottle, is basically the same as Essentials of Tech. Then in a few months, he can step up to Tech 1 and beyond.
