I have an interesting question, and thought about it some, and can't find a suitable answer.  When balacing a rig we want to be nuetral at 500 PSI.  But in the case of Rock Bottom, where you may breathe the tank(s) down to 0 PSI, if perfectly neutral at 500, will be positive at 0 PSI and may have to fight some to hold a 10' stop while potentially (maybe, maybe not) stressed?

Why don't we wight ourselves to be neutral with a lessor PSI in the tank?

400-500psi doesn't weigh much. There's a point of diminishing returns attempting to weight oneself for true zero psi (getting water in your tanks in the process). You shouldn't be so squeezed that you couldn't vent a smidge more if you had to. 10ft stops are somewhat optional anyway, actual deco should be essentially done by the time you're leaving 20ft. MIssing a 1min stop at 10ft recreationally is pretty minor and unlikely to bend you.
