We are still looking for the perfect camera for instructors to use to video the classes. Doesn't have to be hi-def, but that would be an okay option. but must be small, good, and cheap. 130'/39m is plenty deep. Any ideas?

Sure! I love having the handle there. I can scooter and hand shoot with it also.

I've shot two classes with the Canon SD-980is. The nice thing about the camera is the 24mm wide angle.

Here's a dive last weekend with the camera:

I need a goodman handle. Want to hook a brother up? ;)
Hi Jeff
I haven't had the chance to work with it yet but the Hero Pro could be a good option judging by the specs. and reviews. Has anyone had any experience with it?

I have the go pro camera and as Don pointed out it is blurry underwater. There is talk of a flat port being developed by go pro but there is nothing official yet. If there was flat lens available that didn't compromise the field of view too much it would be an excellent camera for this sort of use. The only negative is that there is no view finder, but with the wide field of view it's pretty easy to aim the camera properly.

Here's a shaky video I shot this past fall with the camera showing the blurriness.

Blurry indeed. Thanx for the Video and for pointing me to page 2 of this thread. I guess I'll join the waiting list for a better port.

As the subject of many of George's Videos, I am impressed with the quality. All my videos are perfect for review. Due to the lack of viewfinder, all videos start and stop with a shot of the videographer though, as he looks to see if the red light came on :)

It's yer eyeballs, bucky. It's a helmet cam. It has these two laser diodes in it for ranging/pointing, but they are really not needed. I have had no trouble framing shots to instructional quality.
