Unified Team Diving

Hi all,

I'm currently looking at my first drysuit and trying to find one that is both reasonably priced and of good quality.

My local shop has a brand new Diving Concepts drysuit on sale for around $1000 usd. I believe it is a zTek but not sure. It is a trilam w/ cordura on the outside, seems like the material used in CLX450. Has a telescoping torso, bellows pockets, front zip with zipper guard, soft boots(rather than rock boots) and seems like a good drysuit.

Does anyone have any experience with these suits, comments or insights? Alternately I'm looking at a TLS350 but a custom jobber would cost a fortune!

Thank you for any comments!

Hi Jim-

I've been using the DC Z-Tech suit for about 4 years now and have been very happy with it. In fact, I just ordered another this past week. $1000 is a good price.

I have used Diving Concepts for years, including the ZTek. If it fits you, it is an excellent suit and will last you many many years. For $1000 I would grab it.

Andrew
Thank you for the comments Brian, Andrew. I'm going to try it on and see if it fits. If it fits I may go ahead with it.

Along similar lines has anyone tried the DUI 30/30? Living in SE Asia this may be a good compromise and can be custom cut for a fair bit less than the TLS 350. I imagine you can get this cut for thicker undergarments as well if diving cold waters and would share the same quick drying, lightweight properties that are popular of 350. Any comments/experiences?
Diving Concepts is being introduced in the Netherlands/Europe. First impressions are good, so far. No Real experiences yet. First impression report (in Ducth) and some pictures here. http://www.duikeninbeeld.tv/materialen/index.php?doc=artikel&id...

Untill recently I dived the 30/30, in cold conditions. With a Weezle Extreme undergarment, I have not experieced many differences. Although I have the impression that I have less condens on the inside.

Tried the fit and the suit unfortunately doesn't fit! It's cut w/ a midget waist and I'm a pretty trim dude.

So I'm looking at either a Sig Series TLS350 or 30/30. Any comments / suggestions from people with experience with both comparing the two?

Thanks!
Jim
Interesting and thank you for the info Ali. Do you find that the suit is not as warm as TLS 350 due to the different material? That is very interesting and I hadn't heard that until now. I believe it is cheaper in the states then in SE Asia.

Also, I am considering having my tailor measure me up for a custom DUI and having the measurements sent stateside so I can pick up when in the US. Is this advisable or is the measurement process one that requires a lot of 'improvisation' beyond what is said in the DUI specs on measuring sheet?

Jim,
I have been using the DUI 30/30 explorer( look at my profile pic) for just under a year now and have nearly 100 dives on it. I find that its much more heavier than the TLS 350 in terms of travel. Diving wise, its ok for warm waters but anything less than 22 degrees and I was cold. I use the fourth element undersuits. If I was to buy another suit, it would be a 350 as I think they are a lot more robust. I own 2 TLS 350 and prefer them. Maybe I just need a few more dives on the 30/30 to appreciate it.

hi Jim,

I write you from Italy, I would tell you to take a look to this suits: www.norteck.eu It's tls350 trilaminate, with a new tipe of "turbosoles" called Hypersoles with a very technical cut, with apeks valves and dump on the right place for horizontal position and cordura protection on the right places for any technical or cave dive. It's produced in Spain and it's a very very high quality suit. I'm talking about the Discovery model. The price in Euros is arround 1690 and you will find your standard size with no problems without the necessity to make it to measure, but if you want it made to measeure it doesn't cost much more.
I'm the official distributor in Italy and have very good results with all the people it is using it, including myself, before I was using a made to measure DUI signature.
If you are interested I can help you to find the closest dealer in SE Asia or see if the factory can send to you directly.
Best regards
Daniel
The Norteck suits look good, I've seen them a few places over the years.

I run one of the largest DUI shops in North America. You can get a TLS350 Explorer Series suit if you add the expedition package.

Both suits are good. DUI if you're in the US is a better choice for repairs.

I sell a lot of DC as well. I have some Z-tech suits in stock $1000us is workable. I have Large and XL in stock but only one of each. I'm considering that for my next cave diving suit. I use a CF200 for most of my diving here in Canada.

You won't notice a difference really in warmth between the TLS and the 30/30. They're both a very thin suit. Make sure if you choose a 30/30 they take into consideration your undergarments though.

PM me if you want to chat.

Thanks,

Matt
Thanks Matt, Daniel,

I think a Large/XL would be too big for me. I'm about 5'10", 150-60lbs so probably a medium is more what I'm looking at.
Hi Matthew,

Similar to Jim, I am also looking for Dry Suit here in Hong Kong. Do you have any contact of Norteck in Asia here?

By the way, can someone pls comment Pinnacle's Evo 2? I think it is also using the cordura material and looks ok. I am new to Dry suit and this is probably my first one. I am thinking if I should get a 2nd hand first or I should go for a new one which can last for couple years or even more.

Thanks everyone!

Hi Jim,

By the way, finally which dry suit you've selected?

Cheers,
Caron
Hey Caron,

I'm also planning to get my own drysuit. The Norteck Discovery drysuit looks almost identical to Santi Espace. We have an Asian dealer for Santi drysuit in Singapore. Actually, the Asia dealers for DUI, Diving Concepts & Whites Diving are located in Hongkong themselves.

I'm currently considering an irresistible offer for Santi Espace MTM over TLS350 & Diving Concepts Z-Tech. Tough decision to be made here...

Hope tis helps.
