Hey Guys, looking for a new doubles wing, any opinions on the advantages or disadvantages between a donut style or horse shoe. I'm using an old Seaelite 45# horse shoe now with
LP 85's ,3mil WS,40 deco bottle. I'M thinking a new 40# halcyon Explorer or Evolve? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
BOB

I've been using a 55lb Explorer for years now and I really like it. Some folks have tried the donut style and like them as well. I haven't used the Evolve style so can't honestly have any opinion on it. Just know that my explorer has served me well
Hey Harvy, I tried diving with a borrowed 40# Explorer yesterday, but had to abort the dive upon entry from dive boat due to lost fin while trying to submerge. I was the first to enter so, consequently, had to hang out on the surface until all the other divers where dropped, about 10 minutes. The seas where 1' to 2' about 10 minutes before arriving at dive site, and changed to 3' to 5' an ocasional 7 footer from high winds apon arrival. Normally don't dive in these condition with doubles at 60 years old, but some of us never learn. The problem is didn't seem like I had enough boyancy with a 40# Explorer filled to capicity, 3 mil WS and LP 85's when an occasional 7 footer crashed over me. I'm wondering if I need a larger wing or thats the reason a BC is not concider an approved life preserver, man hate to be stranded in 5' to 7 footers. Will try a 40# Evolve next but with out the same conditions:-)

40lbs is a bit small imho which is why I use the 55lbs. But here in the east I'm using a trilam drysuit, doub 130's with deco and stage bottles.
A 55# is good for what your diving with, but the general consensus is a 40# is good with AL 80's. LP 85's have almost the same characteristics. I'm worried about trapping air with to big a wing.
