Hey Vladimir.

Rule of thumb - if you expect to use it on a dive - it goes to right pocket. If it's a backup - it goes to left pocket.

So this is in fact the opposite to GUE that put SMB and things you are going to use in the left pocket and safety things in the right pocket?

With a stage on the left it is for me much comfortable to take my smb out of right pocket.
In the left pocket i have my backupmask, wetnotes and a spool.

May I know normally what you have on your Right and Left Pockets?

Some min. Must needed item.

Right Pocket:
SMB
Spool
Wetnote ( & arrows)

Left Pocket:
Backup Mask

Anything else?

So what is the reason for that?

If you have utility items in your left pocket and safety items - in your right, you can easily take out your smb with your left hand driving the scooter with your right hand at the same time.
Also, if you loose your mask you can easily take out your spare mask from the right pocket (you definitely won't be driving the scooter in this situation). At the same time the torch will be already in your left hand so you can show your buddy that you have a problem without putting light from left hand to right.
Sounds reasonable?

If you are running the scooter, it sounds reasonable, but really, if you going to deploy your smb, you can not run the scooter, because is an ascent procedure, and you need both hands to launch the SMB... otherwaise, you can run the scooter anyway with the left hand if is for a short time, you need only practice with it.

The idea, is not just have the stuff in one or other pocket, as a Unified Team diving, the most important idea is that all team follow the same rule. If you (team) prefer to put spare mask in right pocket, is not a big deal, if all team follow the same rule and every one know where is your spare mask, and you know where is their spare mask, because is in the same pocket as you.

Under UTD point of view we recomend to place backup items on left pocket, and we're trainning this way to follow a unified rule. Just it.
