UTD Instructor Development Course (IDC) - Washington D.C. - June 2011

I wanted to take the time to thank - Jonathan, Tanya and Chris for being incredibly gracious hosts. I very much appreciate them taking the time from their busy schedules to attend the first UTD IDC on the East Coast. 

Jonathan and Tanya are right bang smack in the middle of opening a brand new fantastic scuba diving retail facility called Submerged. They have run a very successful scuba training company called Professional Scuba Instruction and have now decided that it is time to add a retail facility, to best serve their students and local cliental. The rented an incredibly cool space in Rockville, a suburb outside of Washington D.C. and believe it or not, during all the craziness of building out and preparing for the grand opening of this new store, they managed to take the time to knuckle down and really focus on their IDC.

Chris is an local EMT and EMT instructor at George Washington University and of course a local diver who is part of the Submerge gang. He is a huge supporter of Submerge and wants to become an UTD Instructor to both better his skills as a diver but also to provide the highest quality instructor through the new submerged facility.  

We had an excellent week of IDC training, and preparation and although they were not ready for evaluation, they now have a very clear path as to what they need to do in order to prepare for their evaluations in September of 2012. I, we, should really be excited about that fact that soon we will have three excellent and dedicated UTD Instructors located on the East Coast and will be able to provide the highest quality UTD/DIR instruction.
