What do I need to get started?

Other than a mask, fins, snorkel, hood, booties, and gloves, you should wait til your class starts to begin to spend any money on equipment. Your instructor will go over the complete UTD Equipment Configuration with you when your class starts. If you have to pour out some money now, check out the UTD Equipment Configuration page from the website. But talk to your instructor (me) before you buy anything.

Your instructor will be the best person to speak to. He will cover how to select, the feature to look out for, maintenance, etc. Get your equipment after you have complete the equipment portion of the class. UTD equipment configuration page is a great way to start too.
