Unified Team Diving

So where are people interested in diving? In... let's say Sept and October for now. We can talk about next year, well next year. I suggest leaving Puget Sound proper for short winter days.

Sidney?
Nanaimo?
Barkely sound?
Port Hardy?
Neah Bay?
Quadra Island?
Lund?
or closer to home like the San Juans?

What is an optimum trip length? 3 day weekend? 4?

Thoughts please :)

I'd like to get out to Neah Bay, wouldn't mind a quick trip over to Vancouver Island with the boats in the fall as well. Problem for me will be breaking away.

I think the rule of thumb should be:

One ferry ride, three day weekend. Two ferry ride, four day weekend.
We definitely need to make another trip to Lund. October/November? I think we discussed a 4 day trip this time, to get in 2 solid days of diving, at least 2 dives a day, no?

I have yet to do Neah Bay. Lundy mentioned in the UTD Pac NW group that the Mark V is in Neah Bay this summer. That could be an option

I think a trip to Sidney and a dive on the Black Dragon is in order.

We also need to arrange a dive on the Sceptre Squamish

Excellent idea on the ferries vs. days.

Where on Vancouver Is. boat-wise? Saanich Inlet is very good, although I would suggest leaving that for winter when its stormy elsewhere. Maybe Southern Gulf Islands? Those aren't really served by charters regularly. Rugged sandstone walls and a few REALLY high current wrecks in the passes.
Of the locations listed, yes.

3-day weekend is preferred but 4-day would be fine here and there.

A trip in the San Juans would be great too - we could camp on Lopez right on the water at Odlin park (I think that's the name).
Does someone want to check and see when the Mark V is leaving Neah Bay? Their calender is fairly open I just don't know how long she's out there for.

August 29th has some do-able currents for the Black Dragon. Fairly late in the day, ~3:30 splash. Spend the night in Sidney afterwards and do a (simple gearless) monkey dive on the way home? Or alternatively see about chartering the Cape Able with the DIRProject group?
I nominate Lundy to check out the Mark V.

We could stay in Sidney and monkey the Breakwater. That would be a kick ass monkey dive
July 25 till the end of Sept. I have a standing invitation from Boyd. Anybody wanna come along? I'm thinking end of August

Should we look into chartering the Cape Able with Todd, Guy, Chris Fenton, et al.?

How many tech divers can the Cape Able hold?
More than Doug and I could, maybe 10 or so with scooters.

I emailed Guy and Fenton to see if they are interested in meeting up... Oh and emailed Odgen Point to see if they are available.
Neah Bay!
Heard about it, must do Neah Bay...Ideally this group wouldnt plan a trip till next month but if something is set up other than the 11th through the 20th I'm in!
