Unified Team Diving

FYI, is supposedly further up the hill, I have rough GPS coordinates. Not sure how much further the "road" goes, so this might take some substantial hiking. Even if we choose to dive the main tunnel, we should at least see what the road/trail is like above and if future access is even plausible.

Would anyone want to help hoof gear into the upper adit (aka tunnel)?

Its supposedly flooded to within inches of the top and has multiple levels at <100ft. I'm assuming we could drive a little bit further up the "road" with a suitably raised 4WD truck. But we are still looking at a substantial amount of hiking with (at the very least) small doubles (al80s, lp85s, hp100s). A quad might help get a tad bit closer, but considering the mine operators (50+yrs ago) put in a "tram" to carry ore down to the mill I suspect its steep off trail hiking up to this other adit. Probably 800-900ft of hiking but with 400ft of elevation gain and off-trail.
I'd be up for some exploration. FWIW Richard I have some more info on the mine that I need to get to you.
Road access is iffy at best. From what I saw, driving beyond the point where we stopped would take a dedicated rock crawler style 4wd at least. I dont hold out a lot of hope for the plausability of access above where we have already been.

why don't we put a block up there and winch the gear up?

1000ft? That's a lot of dragging.

Yeah I saw those at B&J's on friday wicked cool!! We are going to try and incorpoarte those into the next video too.
Yeah, after pushing the main tunnel we'll probably try to hike up and (just) find the upper adit. To see what kind of helicopter we'll need to get tanks in there!

Matt-

I'm still giddy over the information you dug up. Friggin' amazing info! Just what we were looking for. Great work, dude
Yeah that is some sweet stuff, esp. interesting since we have already pushed to or past the point they had dug to in 1911.

Matt--

If you can, share that info here. I'm following with interest (despite not being jazzed to go be a mule from Brian and Richard).

The historical stuff needs to have the name blacked/whited out first. Not only to avoid "poaching" but to minimize the wrong people trying to access this site and getting themselves hurt and/or threatening access.
Well let's just say I spent a little time sniffing around in some old archives and came up with several maps from different time periods as well as some other interesting info like surveys, feasibility studies etc. It was actually alot of fun and even though it wasn't a huge disovery I was after I got a small taste of what Chatterton and Kohler felt when they were doing their U-boot research. Looking at old originals from 1897 was definitely cool!

The upper adit may be divable/flooded. I tried finding it yesterday but its a hell of a hike up the hill. I lost the GPS signal in the trees and ended up zig zagging back and forth under the cliffs for 20mins. Never found the upper adit although there is a blazed trail part way up there. Hoofing even the smallest doubles up there would be brutal.
