Is there a wreck you have been wanting to dive. One that you are planning for this year? Let us know.

My goal is to be on charter boat as much as possible,,,and get over the fear of motion shickness. Hope your remedy: ginger pill works for me!!
Ginger pills work for all humans, it is a scientific fact. You are human aren't you. Aren't you!!! This will be an easy goal for you to achieve, because I've been on boats with you before, you have to pick something a tiny bit more challenging that is actually going to make you work for something this year.

Hey Maki, one word "Bonine" take one the night before, one first thing in the morning and one just before you get on the boat. At least that's what has worded well for me. Guess that was more than one word :)
While Ginger pills provide some relieve, god's personal motion sickness med is Scopace. This is the pill version of the Transderm patch that contains Scopolamine. You need a Doctor to prescribe Scopace (0.4mg tablet), but if you start taking them the day before you plan to be on the boat you will be good to go.

The patch also work well but it is best for multi day day trips and you need to be very careful when you put it on that you don't get any of the medicine on your finger as if the stuff on the patch touches your eye (like if you rub you eye after you just applied the patch) it can blur your vision for quite awhile. The good thing with the patch is it works for 3 days.

The pills work best in my opinion. At first I take 1 every 6 hours, and then I reduce my dosage if I am going to be boat diving (or am on a live-aboard) after a couple of days. Try these and I know you will not be disappointed. They are not expensive and they have gotten me thru big seas on open ocean trips (10' waves on the 16 crossing in the Galapagos).

I think the melting of the eyeball confirms my suggestion for ginger!
Maki, it is 99% mind over matter, 1% herbal remedy... and 10% perscription drugs.
This is one time you don't want to listen to James, the Scopace pills don't even make you drowsy like the Bonine can often do. If you get even the least bit queasy on boat, go to your Doctor and get a script. Only the patch effects your eyes and only if you do no wash your hands after applying.
Interesting about Scopace not making you drowsy. Bonine puts me OUT for 8-14 hours (despite the fact that I can drink like a fish - if not swim like one). I just can't take other motion sickness pills. I will have to look into Scopace.
Anyone ever dove the Bradley? I know it's a little late for a 2009 goal, but I'd like to get it in next year - I hope. If anyone has been on it, I'd love to hear your experiences!

See ya.
