UTD
International's goal is to have a core of the highest trained and
qualified instructors worldwide, instructors who do not believe in
"cookie cutter" training or selling C-Cards, but who are dedicated
to providing the highest level of dive education. UTD Instructors
track their students' development and provide continued mentorship
while their students pursue becoming "A Thinking Diver," ultimately
attaining the Expedition Diver Qualification.
We are
looking for interested divers or current instructors who want to
become UTD Instructors. Keep in mind, one does not have to
currently be an Instructor for another agency to apply to become a
UTD Instructor, we will train you to become an instructor from
scratch. If you are currently an instructor for another agency then
we would consider you a crossover candidate.
If you
are interested fill out the Student
Registration Form and diving history, Student
Medical History and Wavier
and Release. The UTD Training Director will then review the
submitted student registration, dive history, medical history and
waiver and release. If accepted byt he TD an interview will be
scheduled with the potential instructor candidate by phone, and all
documents and notes from the interview will be submit to the Board
of Advisors. At this point the BOA will make a decision on the
potential instructor candidate's application and if approved, the
potential instructor candidate will be invited to attend a UTD
Instructor Development Course (IDC). They will need to sign a Non
Disclosure Agreement (NDA) after which they will then be considered
a UTD Instructor Candidate. Once they are a UTD Instructor
Candidate they will begin their journey in becoming a UTD
Instructor. They at that point will purchase their Instructor
Membership and Instructor Materials (Instructor IDC/IE/Crossover Package
) which
will give them access to the best Instructor and Teaching materials
in the industry. These include:
All
Instructor Candidates must satisfactorily complete the common

instructor but those with prior teaching experience in the category
and at the level they wish to teach for UTD are considered
crossover candidates and will adhere to the crossover section in
the Standards and Procedures. Instructor Candidates without
previous teaching experience in that category or level will need to
complete the IDC and required internships and Instructor Evaluation
