Who is this class designed for?
This class is designed for all scooter divers interested in exploring the far reaches of the underwater world at the controls of a scooter. We do require that you have completed UTD Trimix 1 and Scooter 1 to get the most out of this master level workshop.
Class Information
This is a 3 day, 6 dive Class.
Day 1. The first classroom session (4-6 hours) is where you will be introduced to the knowledge portion of the class. The presentation amplifies the skills introduced in your Scooter level 1 class as well as extends the learning to ensure you understand each critical aspect of the scooter The dry run session is designed to introduce all the mastery and critical skills covered in this class. Essentially these two dives are designed to introduce techniques needed to enter the overhead environment, such as run guideline (reels and spools), pickup guidelines, stage/deco bottle drop and pickup, dealing with multiple scooters and learning to turn, stop, start and deal with the scooter in tighter environments. You will also learn and practice important skills such as towing multiple scooters and other scooter divers. Remember all dives are videoed so after you complete the in-water session, we will return to the classroom for the video debrief.
Day 2. Begins with more lectures and dry runs of the skills to be covered that day. We will conduct two more dives where you will learn to do critical skills with the scooter, OOA's , failed scooters, runaway scooters and multiple failure scenarios while ensuring you can complete your decompression or exit the overhead environment. Following the dives we will return to the classroom for lectures and video tape debrief.
Day 3. Conduct two experience dives in the actual environment in which you will be diving. These will be comprised of technical/wreck/overhead environments utilizing multiple scooters. Following the dives we will return to the classroom for final lectures and video tape debrief.
All UTD classes are videotaped for educational review, as we believe this is invaluable for students to visually focus on their individual in-water skills, situational awareness, communication, and team diving. Learning to self evaluate is an important aspect of any class, and video is one of the most important tools we have for instruction. You will be evaluated during the class to obtain the UTD "Scooter 2" Certification. This Certification will complete your Scooter Training and allow you to dive and explore utilizing multiple deco and stage bottles while scootering a variety of environments. Our focus is the complete dedication to your diving skills, knowledge and in water practice. To help prepare for the rigors ahead, see our Learning Center you can find out more information about the class, the equipment and skills you will be evaluated on.
