UTD Purpose

At UTD International it is our purpose:

  • To create the backbone of “A Thinking Team”
  • To provide a range of certification classes from recreational to technical to overhead to rebreather that adhere to the highest set of standards and disseminate the UTD philosophy toward team diving approach.
  • To ensure the highest quality training system for instructors and students thru our Standards and Procedures, the Certification process, quality control system and the online learning center which ensures uniformity and standardization among instructor and divers within the team.
  • To provide a greater depth of knowledge and continuing education for our existing instructors by making all our educational materials openly available for them to review and further educate themselves in all aspects of team diving.
  • To provide a source for UTD Certifications and courses for instructor/diver education.
  • To provide a source for UTD Certifications and courses for instructor/diver education.
  • To provide the most advanced teaching methodologies, and highest quality materials.
  • To provide an Online Learning Center that prepares both students and instructors for the rigors of a UTD Course or any UTD/DIR/Hogarthian based Class.
  • To provide a comprehensive educational structure to develop students and instructors who excel in their discipline.
  • To certify, teach, enhance and further develop instructors’ knowledge, skills, and teaching principles of UTD International through our unique Instructor Development Process, while ensuring all UTD instructors conform to the UTD ethos (philosophy) and are consistent with DIR/Hogarthian diving. Instructors will learn to use UTD teaching principles in their classes, develop a complete knowledge base, promote and teach UTD in-water skills and awareness, and ultimately provide their students with meaningful critique and feedback.
  • Furthermore, UTD will ensure that the students of any UTD sanctioned class will receive a consistent class that disseminates the UTD philosophy and knowledge base, develops a unified team and set of in-water skills, and adheres to the highest set of standards as required by the UTD certification process.
  • To provide a dedicated line of equipment, the UTD Signature Series, that is of the highest caliber and has being developed in conjunction with the manufacturers to meet our unique diving needs. The Signature Series equipment has being vigorously tested by our R and D Team in a wide variety of environments and conditions. This is gear we personally use in our recreational and exploration diving and ultimately is ready to dive, without needing any further improvements or adjustments.
  • To ensure that all our members have access to a state of the art line of equipment that they can trust, that will support their diving philosophy and that we stand behind.
  • To provide an inclusive environment for our global community to come together and share their passion. This social network provides a place for the Thinking Team to share experiences, gain further practical knowledge, meet and dive with other global team members.
