I discovered that the macro lens ... when left in the sun .. acts as a magnifying glass (well, duh!). It melted the lens cover to the point where I couldn't open the lens.
Cost me $175 for a new lens element.

I love my G10 so much I now own two of 'em. Unfortunately, I melted the first one the week-end before my big trip, so I bought a "redundant" camera and sent the original one in for repair. It came back from Canon today, good as new.…
