An additional spot has opened up. Please let me know if you'd be interested in joining us. We have a number of new DIR or DIR-curious divers joining us on this charter, so I think it will be a lot of fun :)

We have reserved and committed to 10 spots aboard the Spectre (http://www.calboatdiving.com/boats.html) for July 31st (Saturday) for a DIR charter. Spectre leaves from Ventura, and we are planning to do *four* dives on this trip at Anacapa or Santa…

There's still one spot left for this trip. Unfortunately, my husband's business trip (to India) got rescheduled and coincides with the charter. If anyone is interested in diving the Spectre on 7/31, I have one spot available. Please send me a messa…

Rainer just pointed out this thread to me....so thanks. I have a question for one of the UTD instructors. Say you have a student who has been diving with like-minded divers, is in doubles, is comfortable with the use of a deco bottle, a good teamma…

Favorite Dive Sites (water, not internet)

About me:
I started diving in June of 2008. I have since become an active socal (mostly shore) diver and have been loving every moment of it. After meeting some experienced divers and seeing how they dive, doing a lot of reading, and experimenting with gear selection, I have come to realize that I want to keep learning and become a safer, more confident, more competent diver....that's where UTD comes in! Looking forward to learning and diving more!

LOL, I also don't have any pics of me UW. Well, you can barely make me out in this one (lower left group, upper diver): http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g219/tylerstalter/Deco.jpg). Seriously, we need to do more dives with photographers!

That said, your current choice is tops.

Hey Nicole!!
I can't get into Divematrix, but wanted to respond to your question about the dive at Malibu Road. I have no idea if it is the "g" place (sorry for not naming exactly, can't remember exactly). I'll ask Maciej about it and let you know. I have been to where we are going (supposedly). I lost a fin last time I was there trying to get into the water. UGH! But, it is near a residential spot right on the beach. I remember driving a little past paradise cove, going past some houses, and parking on the street and walking down just a short way to the beach.

According to what Maciej found online about the swell, it is supposed to be most calm time on Thursday morning, so he said that Wednesday night should be ok. We'll see. I'm quite nervous. I was tumbled pretty hard in the surf last time in Malibu on a night dive. If it's bad, we'll just call it!

Looking forward to September when we can dive together again!!!!

Talk to you soon!!!

Hey Nicole, welcome to the LA Group. We're going to Catalina for an easy day on Jan 24, then I have an Essentials class starting Feb 20. Keep an eye on the group for more info, or feel free to contact me or any of the other UTD instructors to find out what we're doing in SOCAL.

Hi Nicole,

I'm Jeff Seckendorf, a UTD instructor. I've set up a group on the site called UTD-LA. We're using it as a place to announce local dives and classes and keep the Los Angeles are divers in touch with each other.

Hope you can join us. To join, click here.
