Actually, it's a seal (sorry I can't help myself). And from what I've heard, there's a big debate in Monterey between the instructors and the marine life about whether or not Essentials should be a critical skills class.

I missed out in Essentials

I thought Brian and Jeanna did a great job but it appears that there is a module that they didn't teach in our class. Our SMB lesson was incomplete compared to what other instructors are teaching. Apparently one has to travel to Montarey to get the entire curriculum including wildlife. See More

Oh, and there were ratfish about too. Might be a decent dive for the visitors, especially if they did DIW with scoots but were easy on the trigger.

Scootering Saltwater State Park

Fun scooter dive on the reef at Saltwater State Park today with Jenna, Laurie, Kelley, and Richard. It is nice to notice how easy it is to grab a scooter and go now post Essentials and with a bunch more dives. I don't think my last scooter dive was particularly elegant. I'm looking for a 200bar DIN valve with 3/4" threads. Anybody got valves left over from making up doubs? I just banged up the crappy OMS valve on my LP-95 and need to replace it.
