summer is gone, back to normal conditions then

Had a good frosty day in Ojamo. Tres Presidentes worked well with spherasorb and average RMV was 3,5l/min. More focus for this dive was to try out Santi heatvest and double hood. Both worked well and had to again to keep heat at the lowest setting point for not getting to hot. See More

Just came back from teaching this years last Cavern class, sadly the conditions where not perfect, but we managed to do the dives, M was staffing for his upcoming Cavern instructor class in FL.

Weekend before this i had the pleasure to be at BaltiTech in Poland, saw some interesting lectures. Oddly enough after talking about and seeing video from Graf Zeppelin, i dropped it off from "to do list" but added some Latvian wrecks :-)

After mid December i shall start my own… Continue

fun dive weekend in Ojamo

Posted on November 1, 2009 at 8:30am 0 Comments

Had a nice pleasent dive weekend in Ojamo. Sat dive was a nice 15min scooter at 28m and 10min in 58m and back with total time of less then 2 hours. I was using BTS heating vest and it worked fine, i will continue use it more during winter, but one thing i will put hold is LED lights, with 4 person scooter team, it looked i was on back up light while everyone else was on HID. The biggest problem is that the beam dosent carry, so nice for teaching, but not for fun or scooter dives where you want… Continue

Winter coming

Posted on October 18, 2009 at 10:12am 0 Comments

A bit time since last entry. I have been teaching Cavern classes for last few weekends. Had my first go with rock boots and BTS heating vest. Need to test some more, but I recon i bought a bit to big fins for my rock boots, size 11. I give a go with JetFin XXL if they would fit better. BTS heating vest will have some more trial runs to see if i will start using it.

Its getting winter here and days are getting shorter, still one OW DPV class to teach and one Cavern then its some… Continue

Difficult/challenging conditions on HMS Hermes (moderate to strong current often reversing at depth; variable visibility on wreck at 48-51m; remote dive logistics and accommodations. Strenuous but definitely worth the trip if you prepare well in ahead.
