UTD Side-mount Trimix
Members,
Recently I have being getting quite a few questions asking me about trimix diving, if is it possible in side-mount configuration, and if there is any difference in the Z system configuration?
So, I thought I would answer these questions by saying ---- YES of course it is…

Old ways
Yesterday I had a great experience sharing the ESM to a really good friend and a great mentor. I thought I'd blog about it because it was quite a different experience for me to teach someone who had such a great impact on my own diving career about 20 years ago. There were a lot of surprising moments for both of us. He was surprised by UTD's topsy turvy thinking and progressive style, I was surprised that he was. One particular quote that struck me was "I've been teaching **** for over 20…

New Tips to streamline your Z Side-Mount System
Members
Last week I completed a UTD Foundational and Side-mount IDC in Anilo, Philippines. Over the week the candidates practiced and prepared for evaluation, their dry runs, lectures and skills for the ESM/ZUBA, Open Water, Essentials of Recreational Side-mount (Single tank) and Essentials of Side-Mount (Double Tank) classes. They did excellently and I will be recommending them to the Training Board of Advisor for evaluation. I am sure we will see some new UTD Instructors in CEBU and…

Thank you to Andrew G and Jeff S for their time and guidance during my recent IDC with them in California. Also a special thank you to Greg Feldheim for being my teammate during our training as well. I'm very excited to be part of this community and I hope to help UTD grow both here in Eastern Canada and elsewhere.

What made UTD's Z-Side Mount Diving System ScubaGadgets' "Best in Show" at DEMA 2012
Side Mount diving is becoming wildly popular among recreational open water divers, advanced technical divers, cave divers, and wreck divers alike. Although rooted in cave diving, many “regular” open water divers are now shifting over to side-mount style diving because of…

Extreme Scuba Makeover Class in Aiyanar Beach Resort, Batangas, Philippines
I had a blast of a time with the first batch of Extreme Scuba Makeover X-students from Manila! It was a day of learning and sharing with moments of great discovery. From a quick dip in the morning, to snorkelling, horsing around with that wonderful ZUBA contraption, so much change transpired in a few hours of a fun foundational overhaul. Congratulations to Voltz, Irene and Jujut! If it weren't for your collective commitment, this event would not have been as great a success as it…

UTD Instructor Development Course (IDC) in Puerto Galera, Philippines 2012
UTD has always looked for Instructors who want to offer a progressive training and a diving system that has the highest standard and quality in the industry. Most agencies out there teach a cookie cutter class and their "old" style of teaching methods and equipment produce "run of the mill" divers with the bare minimum skills to survive.
UTD is the "Rolls Royce" of the industry and has always sought the dedicated professional who wants to offer a progressive and unique program, one…
