Unified Team Diving

Recreational 2

April 10-12 was a beautiful spring weekend up here in Michigan and made for some spectacular experience dives for my recent Recreational 2 students, Joe and Josh Hohner. We did the dives at three separate locations, Union Lake, Spring Mill Pond and Gilboa Quarry. Union and Spring Mill gave us about 20ft of visibility, but the experience dives at Gilboa were absolutely amazing. Sunday morning the sun was shining, skies were blue and the viz was 60-80ft+, WOW!

Three days and six dives later, these two divers elevated their skill and ability in the water to a completely new level. Struggling with ascents, and valve drills on Friday morning, became an easy task by Sunday. Our experience dives took us over the wall at Gilboa quarry cruising along at an average depth of 90ft. Joe and Josh turned the dive right on schedule and we started back towards the docks. Maybe it was turn pressure, maybe it was time, maybe it was the 43 degree F water, I don’t really remember why they turned, I must have been too amazed by the visibility, 90 feet deep and you could still see the water rippling on the surface. Oh wait, now I remember… Air Share!!!

Sundays experience really let Joe and Josh bring all of their work and training together into a few very well organized dives that they should both be very proud of. Problems were given and handled with thought and direction, which made for some great video and greater memories.
Thanks again to everyone involved, Joe and Josh, my video helpers, Terry and Chad, Mike at Gilboa for letting us in on Easter Sunday, and of course myself:)

Sounds like a good time. And what those guys are going to find out is that the class is only the beginning . . . you watch your diving get easier and more fun pretty steadily as the skills get cemented in place.
