Congrats! You've decided to further your education with UTD.
After securing a class schedule with the UTD instructor, the next step is to complete the online registration components. This insures that you have access to all the classroom materials, you filled out all the paperwork, and you've completed the online materials before the physical class.
While we've worked hard to make the process as simple and intuitive as possible, there are still a few steps. This article is to help you get started.
Step 1 - Buy the Online Classroom
In order to take a UTD class, students must be an active UTD Member. For new students and new UTD Members, the best package is the
Student Class Package. This combines UTD Membership and one Online Class of your choice.
For existing UTD Members, you'll need to purchase the appropriate
Online Classroom. For example, a former Essentials student wanting to take Intro-to-Tech will only need to purchase the
Intro-to-Tech online classroom.
Once you purchase the Online Classroom, the UTD Administrator will Invite you to the appropriate class group on the UTD site. For example, this is the
Essentials Online Class group. If you used different email addresses for the UTD site and for PayPal, please check all accounts for the Invite from the Admin.
Within the Online Classroom, you will have access to the classroom materials (Presentations, Videos, and .PDFs), the paper exam, and a discussion forum for any questions regarding the class or materials.
Step 2 - Register, Medical, and Waiver forms
Instead of paper release forms filled the day of class, we've put our forms online. Go to the
Student Registration page and complete the three pages.
Upon submitting the Student Registration, you will be emailed the documents. Please bring these to class and sign in front of your instructor. If a medical release by a physician is required, please bring this on the first day of class as well.
Step 3 - Statement of Completion form
Before the physical class, it's required that you review all the Online Classroom materials and take the accompanying test. The
Statement of Completion affirms your review of the materials and insures that the physical class is as efficient as possible.
All the course materials will be discussed by your Instructor, but completion of the online course will give you a better foundation. As the result, the class time can be spent on specifics or more detailed or more examples, as opposed to covering the basics.
Optional - Class Event
All classes are added to the
UTD Events calendar. To facilitate communication and logistics, it's recommended that you join the appropriate Class Event.
