Gang

First of all I want to thank you all of you for your past generous support of my Triathlons. I really do appreciate it and most importantly we managed to raise over $3000 that went towards the Ocean Conservation.

For this upcoming Triathlon - November 21, 2009 called "In The Dirt" (http://www.sawsportsproductions.com/Dirty%20Off-Road.html) - I wanted to take a different approach and look into sponsoring a local school in their efforts to educate our youth in nature and the outdoors. After doing some research of local schools, I found the ASCEND school in Oakland and a project Ms. Spang is heading up. I wanted to put my Triathlons effort towards supporting her and her 6th graders.

So, I am asking to please take a look at the info below and send your donations directly to the link below. A $20 to $50 donation will go a long way in supporting her efforts in taking these inner city kids to Pt Reyes and showing them the beauty of nature. So, to reassure you, I am working very hard every day to prepare for this Tri and am hoping to finish in the top 10 once again. So please sponsor me and the ASCEND program. :)

For more info on the Sponsorship, the Tri and Results please visit my blog on http://www.unifiedteamdiving.com or my facebook page Andrew Georgitsis.

Thanks again

Andrew

Here is the info:

Help Inner City Youth Experience Nature!

Your donation will help 6th grade students develop a love for nature and an understanding of why preservation is essential. Many students from the inner city disregard the environment, simply because they have never been given an opportunity to develop an appreciation for nature. Most of my students don't even have the option of visiting nearby parks for it is often unsafe to walk to a nearby park because of gang activity. More times than not, if they do make it do a local park instead of viewing wildlife they are faced with drug dealers and homeless camps. If this project is funded all sixth grade students from ASCEND school in Oakland will spend an entire week in Pt. Reyes National Seashore! Students will have the chance to: participate in a native plant restoration project, test water quality in streams, learn about local ecology, observe wildlife, take night hikes with only the light of the moon, identify local bird calls, and develop an appreciation of the natural world!

To donate go to Oakland Small School Foundation:

Make sure to select the following so your donation will go directly to this trip!

School or OSSF Designation: Choose ASCEND

Special Campaign Designation: type in ASCEND 6th GRADE

Thank you for you generosity! You are making a difference in the lives of 48 sixth graders in Oakland!

I just wanted to take the time to thank all of you for your wonderful support and sponsorship of the ASCEND school 6th grader field trip program (P.S. It not to late to contribute now if you did not get a chance to) and for your support in my last triathlon of the 2009 season. I managed to do extremely well in this off-road race crossing the finish line in 3rd place overall. Here is a little report and some pics if you are interested.

Check in and registration was at 6am-8am, followed by a safety briefing and then the "general" start at 9:00am. We did not go in the usual way of “age group” waves but rather is was an "all" at once start. This was a little strange because all 150+ of us were lined up on the beach ready to start at 9:00am and when the gun sounded and off it was a little crazy. All of us ran and jumped in the 50 F water to complete the swim portion. I had an excellent start to the race and swam extremely hard finishing 3rd overall. I then went onto the bike portion maintaining good position in the pack even though I had a mechanical issue on the top of the giant hill, I still managed to make it back to the transition area "alive" :). I then started my run in 2nd place, feeling very strong and maintained a good pace throughout this tough trail running course. I could feel one other runner coming up the rear fast and he passed me about mile 3 of this hilly run. I managed to maintain my position and crossed the finish line in 3rd place overall. This was definitely one of my best runs all season and I managed to produce some excellent times. I was very satisfied with the result and am now looking forward to the 2010 season.

For the 2010 Season I have booked 4 olympic distant Tri's, 3 1/2 iron distances and 2 x full iron mans distance, including (Oly) March Series, SF Tri, Marin County Tri, Silicone Valley Tri - the 1/2's are Wildflower, Big Kahuna, SB Long Distant and the full distant Iron’s are: Vineman and Arizona.

I am looking forward to the 2010 season and hopefully you guys will support me and the causes I choose to compete for.

See you soon and safe diving
Andrew
