You are right, in this case the diver forgot to connect the DS hose until right before getting in the water. When they did hook it up, it was over the long hose.

Could happen if the drysuit hose is used to inflate an SMB or used with an airgun during the dive. I find clipping into the drysuit hose before putting my rig on helps me not to forget it.

Michael. I agree. it happens that people forget to connect the dry suit hose, especially when they are (or they think they are) in a hurry - one of my buddies used to forget it too. yeah, pre-dive checks are crucial.

Did this all start as a dry suit hose that was connected after the dive started. I am just wondering how the long hose got under the dry suit hose. The only thing that makes sense to me is that the dry suit hose was forgotten and connected later than usual.

Hi Lynne. I was not the person on the right, but I remember this and it was a good lesson. There was much confusion caused by the other diver not being able to get the hose free. Always a reminder to me to not skip the pre-dive checks, and of course if a mod-s had been done at the surface the other diver would have known the hose was trapped.

Well, at least you had enough hose to get gas to the fellow. That's the critical thing. If you catch the long hose on your manifold (which I have done) you can't even do that.
