With the salvo use the biggest double ender you can get and then make the rear lop long enough so the double ender can reach comfortably.

Exactly 45deg angle is what I want, it points slightly ahead, great for tie in's and so on and does not point in my buddies eyes. I don't like it pointing straight down but if you want it can be done by using the other side of the double ender.

Mine won't hang down down from the back, it points down at roughly a 45deg angle. Which seems "ok" so far. I'm not sure if I will like it in a cave. The double sided thumb loop is awesome tho. As you can see its a remote ballast head and I moved the set screw out of the way.

Are any of you guys doing this with the old style light head with the ballast in it? I tried to set my light up this way prior to the trip this last weekend, but I didn't have a bolt snap that would come within an inch and a half of spanning the distance between the butt loop and the Goodman handle (Salvo 21W non-remote-ballast light).

I have being using this "style" configuration for 4 years now. By style I mean the double ender attached to the rear loop of the light and then I use the same gate to clip it to my d-ring. I have had absolutely no issues with it hanging down, in fact I prefer it this way as I can tuck my light cord into y waist strap and pull the light head up slightly pointing forward. By pulling the head slightly forward I elevate the lighthead which points slightly forward, which i prefer especially when tie'ing in. I always hated tying a primary or secondary in the dark when my light was dangling and pointing down. As far as signaling .....come on this is silly ....no issues at all

The diver had it exactly configured as in the video. It didn't hang straight down. It certainly didn't look like it was in a good position from which to signal effectively, but I didn't try it, so can't say for sure.

If this is configured correctly, there should be zero issues with how the light hangs while clipped off in the back. It should be in perfect position while working and is simple and effective to single with when hanging from the back.

I did a dive this weekend with someone who has swapped over to this new light config. I must say, the light does NOT hang straight down when clipped off at the back. Also, it seemed so pulled into his chest, I doubt he could have used the light to signal while still clipped off. That's not good.

I do very much like the bungee idea, and will consider adding that (means drilling and tapping a new hole for the screw, though, if you want to use the right side as a thumb loop), but the one clip idea seems a poor substitute to the old method, at least for temporarily stowing the light.

All just IMO of course.

Very Nice!

This looks slick, Andrew -- my buddy and I were talking last week when I was in Mexico, about what a large profile my clipped off lighthead was (after the light failed) and this looks as though it would keep the whole unit much closer to the body. Thanks for sharing it.
